Particularly in view of the digitalization and fast pace of our working world, it is clear that existing knowledge is becoming obsolete at an ever-increasing rate and new areas of activity are emerging at the same time. Traditional educational institutions alone are no longer able to meet the increasing pressure to gain qualifications, and employees and employers must increasingly build up the expertise in demand in their own corporate context.

At the BREDEX Academy, we have been pursuing both topics for over half a decade and have already accompanied over 600 people in multiple organizations into new professional roles.

Reskilling and upskilling in practice

One of our longest-running reskilling projects is the Faculty 73 qualification program, which we have been implementing together with Volkswagen AG for over five years. The aim of this program is to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in the IT sector with new, specially trained experts. To this end, participants are trained in IT roles in the automotive industry over a period of two years. The long-standing collaboration demonstrates the success of this project.

Continuing education paths for long-term success—an example

The following graphic illustrates the continuing education paths. The first step shows an excerpt from our course offerings. When you move your mouse over the image, several courses from Basic Level (1) and Advanced Level (2) are selected. Click on the graphic opposite to see an example learning path. The courses included in this example path are as follows:

  • The Java Bootcamp introduces software novices to Java and lays the foundations for coding in a fun way.
  • In IT Basics, BREDEX trainers teach fundamental concepts, processes, and elements of computer science. The course gives participants an understanding of software development processes. They learn to apply their new skills in “real-world” conditions and in line with modern software development practices.
  • Our training on the agile mindset sensitizes participants to the advantages of agile working and teaches various concrete ways of thinking and approaches.
  • Java Essentials and SQL Essentials teach the most important techniques, processes, concepts, and conventions of these programming languages. Participants will then be able to write and understand their own code.
  • In this example path, Infrastructures & Spring Clouds is part of the Advanced Level and thus imparts more in-depth skills. Here, participants learn principles and practices that ensure internal code quality and thus make the software product more future-proof.

Whether moderating retrospectives, team empowerment, or a design thinking workshop, our experts accompany you remotely with 100% quality. Despite physical distance, we place a high value on interactivity, stimulating communication, and diverse methods. What might that look like? See for yourself:

  • We use the virtual training room BigBlueButton, which is similar in function and structure to most other common web conferencing tools.
  • It is possible to divide the room into individual “workspaces” (breakout sessions) and use other useful tools, such as screen sharing or a survey tool.
  • To enable cooperative group or individual work, we incorporate various formats such as Miro into our training courses.
  • Miro is a web-based, infinite whiteboard that allows any number of participants to work together. It is therefore the ideal basis for creative brainstorming or recording exercise results.
  • Another tool we use in our training courses is AhaSlides, which allows for direct exchange between trainers and participants, e.g., through interactive quizzes, Q&A sessions, and word clouds.

We also offer all our programming courses remotely as online training—with the same high quality! All you need is an internet-enabled device and, ideally, a headset and camera.
The software normally required for a programming course (e.g., the development environment, installed language packages such as Java 8, etc.) does not need to be prepared by participants before the course.
All you have to do is open your browser again and follow our link to the virtual machine. The virtual machine (VM) is a virtual computer that runs on a host system. It is a sealed, visualized environment in which several operating systems of an independent guest system can be run in parallel on a physical computer. In simple terms, it is another virtual computer that you can control from your computer.
What you work on in the virtual computer has no impact on your own device. This allows you to access all the necessary software and tools in the training course and start programming right away—without having to worry about anything before or during the course!
