Zero Trust, NIS-2, and AI: Key Topics at the Trade Fair

it-sa 2024 in Nuremberg was an impressive platform with over 800 exhibitors presenting the latest IT security solutions. BREDEX, as a leading IT service provider, was there to intensify exchanges with partners and learn about current industry trends. Our experts immersed themselves in interactive demos and participated in discussions on key topics such as the NIS2 directive and forward-looking security approaches. This year, there was a particular focus on the zero-trust approach and AI-supported security solutions, which have the potential to transform the IT security landscape in the long term.

Zero-Trust Architecture: Security Without Compromise

Zero trust architecture is based on a simple but effective principle: “Trust no one, verify everything.” Unlike traditional security models, which divide networks into internal and external areas, zero trust continuously checks every connection and reduces access to what is absolutely necessary. This strategy ensures that even internal users and systems are given minimal rights—effective protection against potential internal threats. This approach was omnipresent at it-sa, and BREDEX was able to see for itself through practical demonstrations how zero trust significantly enhances protection against unauthorized access and contributes to a more resilient IT infrastructure.

AI-Supported Security Solutions: Prevention at the Highest Level

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing cybersecurity. AI-powered security solutions can analyze vast amounts of data and identify anomalies in real time. Through proactive threat detection and automated responses, AI increases the efficiency of security processes and reduces the risk of human error. These intelligent solutions provide companies with a smart defense strategy that is flexible and scalable. At it-sa, our experts were able to experience firsthand how AI-powered security platforms help detect threats earlier and immediately stop attack patterns. The insights gained are directly incorporated into our consulting services and strengthen our position as a leading partner for companies pursuing a future-proof IT security strategy.

BREDEX on Stage: Lectures, Panels, and Workshops at it-sa 2024

At it-sa 2024, BREDEX contributed valuable insights and practical ideas to the cybersecurity discussions. Ron Kneffel moderated Forum E and participated in several panels, including the Bitkom Security Club, where he discussed the cybersecurity situation in Germany and legal standards. Together with Janine and Fabian, he took part in the CISO Alliance’s CISO Roundtable to highlight future-oriented security strategies and the use of AI in IT security. Janine and Sophie also conducted a workshop that promoted insight into IT cybersecurity and compliance issues and provided clear solutions to current challenges.

BREDEX Presence at the Bitkom Booth and Networking with Experts

BREDEX presented itself alongside other leading companies at the Bitkom joint stand. Here, we showcased our expertise in compliance solutions and cybersecurity consulting, which promoted exchange with other experts and the establishment of new contacts. A special highlight was the BREDEX CIS team: Ron Kneffel (Head of IT Security), Janine Richter (Head of Compliance), Sophie Powierski (Compliance Consultant), and Fabian W. (Information Security Consultant) were available at the booth to answer questions and network—and provided plenty of conversation topics when Ron’s life-size cardboard cutout took the stage one day. As Ron was attending a live hacking event at it-sa and a panel discussion at “Industrie Digital” in Hanover at the same time, the cardboard cutout supported him in the live hacking event, which he presented together with Donald Ortmann. This creative solution attracted many curious glances and made the BREDEX booth a special highlight of the trade fair.

Industry Trends and Regulatory Requirements

In addition to zero trust and AI, other key topics were also in focus at it-sa 2024, including diverse teams in cybersecurity and the Europe-wide harmonization of security standards through new regulations such as the NIS2 and DORA regulations. These topics strengthen BREDEX’s understanding of our customers’ requirements and demonstrate how our services can optimally support compliance with new market standards.

Conclusion: it-sa 2024 as a Valuable Source of Inspiration for BREDEX

For BREDEX, it-sa 2024 was not only a platform for networking and exchanging ideas with leading IT security providers, but also an opportunity to experience the latest security solutions in a practical setting and further develop its own expertise. Actively exploring new compliance and IT security tools presented at various exhibition stands provides BREDEX with important impetus for internal security development and strengthens its consulting services, enabling it to offer solutions based on the latest market standards.
