Data analysis of smart home components for optimizing usage

To identify potential areas for optimization in smart home devices, anonymized data on usage behavior was evaluated. Using modern analysis tools and techniques, the data was examined in detail to identify patterns and anomalies in device usage. The visual presentation of the results gave the client a better understanding of how their smart home devices were being used.

Challenge

A leading smart home manufacturer provided anonymized data on the usage behavior of various smart home devices, such as smart sockets, smart light bulbs, and various sensors. The challenge was to analyze the raw data in Apache Parquet format in order to identify anomalies and draw general conclusions about the use of smart home devices. The goal was to gain a deep understanding of how the devices are used and to identify potential for optimization.

Methods

Our experts at AI Experts (i3Systems) conducted a comprehensive data analysis and visual presentation of the usage data. Using modern analysis tools and techniques, the data was examined in detail to identify patterns and anomalies in device usage. The visual presentation of the results gave the customer a better understanding of how their smart home devices were being used. In addition, areas were identified where additional data is needed to further optimize usage. For example, it was found that for a large number of users of a switchable multi-socket outlet, only two of the three slots were actively used.
