Calculating the decarbonization index for a corporation
Central data collection, management, and distribution
An innovative web application was developed that is used worldwide by various user groups within an international automotive group. The aim of the project was to automate the processes for recording, calculating, and monitoring CO₂ emissions, thereby supporting compliance with global climate targets.
Challenge
Previously, the process was carried out manually using Excel, which was prone to errors. In addition, there was a central dependency on a single person. Both of these factors posed a significant risk to the security of data collection and data quality itself. BREDEX has overcome this challenge by introducing a modern, centralized web application.
Solution
The solution enables users to enter, manage, and validate relevant data via user-friendly input masks. A dual control principle ensures data integrity and minimizes sources of error.
Centralized data storage enables a consistent and traceable database that can be accessed worldwide. In addition, future enhancements such as interfaces to other systems are already planned.
The application not only offers operational advantages, such as automatic CO₂ data accounting, but also supports customers in acting more sustainably from a strategic perspective. Historical data remains accessible unchanged, which is particularly important for regulatory reporting.
Particularly noteworthy is the integration of modern technologies, including the React framework and cloud-based systems such as Microsoft Azure. The project uses continuous delivery and runs on the Azure platform at the customer’s site. It aggregates data from various sources and prepares it in a user-friendly way for calculation.
