Tree Planting Campaign: Spades for Desk Sitters

We recently organized a unique team event: a tree planting campaign in the beautiful Zweidorfer Holz forest. Twenty-five of our employees, together with partners and children, set out to make an important contribution to environmental conservation as part of our sponsorship project with the Lower Saxony State Forestry Department. In just under two hours, we planted 850 beech seedlings together, each between 60 and 80 cm tall. We were supported by seven forestry workers who assisted us with their expertise. They gave us helpful instructions and answered our questions about the optimal planting distances and locations.
This event was not only an important step for environmental protection, but also a fantastic opportunity for us to grow closer as a team. After the successful planting campaign, we had the opportunity to engage in relaxed conversations over coffee and soup and reflect on the experience together.

Sponsorship of “Beschte Wald”

Our sponsorship with the Lower Saxony State Forestry Department covers the financing of a total of 1,500 trees, which will serve to offset our calculated CO2 emissions for the year 2023. We have already planted more than half of the trees ourselves as part of this initiative, thereby making a significant contribution to our climate goal.
It is fascinating to think that the small beech trees we have planted will grow slowly in the first few years. After about ten years, they will reach a height of just under one meter, and after thirty years, they can be an impressive six meters tall.
A mature tree binds about ten kilograms of CO2 per year. The calculation is based on a beech tree about three meters tall with a trunk diameter of five centimeters, which comprises approximately 0.01 cubic meters of wood.
So our little seedlings still have a long way to go, but we look forward to tracking their progress and taking pride in having made a sustainable contribution for future generations.
