On International Women’s Day, we dedicate ourselves to the goals, rights, and voices of women worldwide and celebrate their remarkable strength and significant achievements. At BREDEX, we have decided once again this year to let more than just words do the talking: we are donating €500 in the form of dm vouchers to the Braunschweig women’s shelter to provide direct help to women in need and show our solidarity.
BREDEX Supports the Braunschweig Women’s Shelter on International Women’s Day:
A Refuge for Hope and New Beginnings
The Braunschweig women’s shelter is a lifeline for many women in terrible times. It offers several places in the main building and others in rented apartments. However, in order to provide the best possible support for the women, the goal is to open a second house instead of scattered apartments. Sadly, the demand far exceeds the capacity. Last year alone, almost 400 women had to be referred to other women’s shelters and support services because there was simply no more space available. Nevertheless, the dedicated staff work tirelessly to provide help by working closely with local authorities, institutions, and the police to find a solution for every woman.
Multifaceted Support in the Face of Rising Violence
Violence against women is on the rise and is not only physical, but also financial, social, and psychological. The women’s shelter in Braunschweig is not just a place of refuge. Thanks to specialized professionals, hidden surveillance devices in cell phones, vehicles, or even animal feed are detected and rendered harmless. This provides the women affected with the protection they so desperately need.
Progress through Technology and Legislation
Further support is provided by the “protected app,” which gives women access to important information and the opportunity to keep records in a secure environment that are also admissible in court. The app is available in selected institutions, including the Braunschweig women’s shelter. In addition, the introduction of the new Violence Assistance Act has made a valuable contribution to a central regulation to facilitate access to free places in women’s shelters and to respond to every call for help.
Inspiring Success Stories
The women who leave the women’s shelter feeling empowered are inspiring examples of triumph over adversity. With newfound self-confidence and unwavering courage, they begin to rebuild their lives and often move into their own apartments—an important step toward an independent future.
Thanks to the Everyday Heroes
At BREDEX, we are deeply grateful for the work of the women’s shelter and consider it our important mission to support their valuable work. The strength and dedication of the staff there are indispensable and change lives. On International Women’s Day, we would like to not only draw attention to this, but also express our sincere thanks to everyone involved. Together we are strong, and we are proud to be part of these positive changes.
United for a More Just World
So let’s celebrate together on International Women’s Day and recognize the achievements and tireless efforts of these everyday heroes. Every bit of support counts, and together we are taking steps toward a more just and secure world for all women.
