Fundraising Event “Testing for Charity”: €2,040 Raised for a Good Cause

As an IT service provider with a strong focus on software quality assurance and testing expertise, we are delighted to be able to showcase our experience and expertise in the Charity Test Challenge. Testing for Charity was not just about finding bugs, but also about how we can use our professional approach to contribute to a good cause.

Recipient of Donations – Sportfreunde Braunschweig e. V.

The donations from the “Testing for Charity” event will go directly to the 10th Sportfreunde Cup of Sportfreunde Braunschweig e. V., which will take place on April 20. This tournament enables around 250 athletes, including teams of children, young people, and adults with mental or physical disabilities, amputee soccer teams, and over-40 teams, to participate in sports. Thomas Pfannkuch, former professional player for Eintracht Braunschweig, is the chairman of the club and one of the organizers of this unique event!

Creating Added Value

You could call it “daily business,” because as testers, we support customers and colleagues in implementing customized software solutions. On March 14, we had the opportunity to get even more out of this added value. Together with the founder of Deerstone GmbH, Sebastian Goebel, three BX employees organized a charity test challenge.

Organizing Charity Runs Has Never Been Easier

Sebastian and his team offer a digital sponsorship event platform at charity-move.de. Organizers can manage participants and sponsors easily and transparently. The tool reduces administrative tasks to a minimum and is designed to help committed individuals make the world a little bit better. The tool is completely free to use for charitable purposes—a real labor of love.

Donation Amount Measured in Story Points

Our task was to conduct a comprehensive analysis of this web application. This was nothing unusual for us testers, but in a charity challenge, competitive spirit is just as important as the charitable cause. So it was decided to evaluate the bugs found in story points and donate an amount to the Sportfreunde Braunschweig e. V. association based on their weighting. Organized with Charity Move itself, of course.

One Day, One Challenge: Testing an App Together

A challenge wouldn’t be a challenge if participants didn’t put themselves under pressure to perform well. Testing an entire application together with several colleagues in just one day was a new challenge for us. In any case, our ambition was aroused and we wanted to be as well prepared as possible. We wrote a test concept so that we could follow a common thread in the heat of exploratory testing. We went through each use case and noted anything that did not meet expectations. Before we knew it, the first session was already over and we were able to present Sebastian with our initial findings and clarify any uncertainties. In round two, we collected further bugs and suggestions for improvement. We handed over the results to Sebastian and his team, who can now continue to drive forward their passion project.

Thank You for Your Cooperation.

After an exciting and exhausting day, we can say that we have achieved our goal: creating added value together and doing good in the process. Some of the participants will be glad that this “charity run” was not about certificates and sore muscles, but about gaining experience. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks to everyone who made this collaboration possible.

With our team of highly qualified testers and our in-depth expertise, we are ready to offer you customized solutions that guarantee the functionality and quality of your software. Our team looks forward to getting in touch with you. If you are interested in further details or are considering working with us, please contact us at sales@bredex.de.
