BREDEX GmbH donates laptops to children in Ukraine through the ChancenGeben e. V. association.
Just under 40 km from the Russian border, around the town of Martove, many Ukrainian families have been living in a state of emergency for months. There are constant air raid sirens, many children have been driven from their villages, and there is a constant shortage of everyday necessities. For many children in the area, regular school lessons cannot take place at present, yet education is the foundation for a better future for young Ukrainians.
The team from ChancenGeben e. V. in Wolfenbüttel traveled 2,380 km on a trip from April 27 to May 3, 2023, to distribute donations and relief supplies directly to children in need in Ukraine. Among these supplies were 29 donated laptops. The situation on the ground was extremely challenging for the volunteers: on the day of distribution, April 30, the air raid siren lasted 23 hours and 10 minutes – with only a brief all-clear given for 50 minutes. Despite the dangers and time pressure, ChancenGeben e. V. managed to safely deliver the devices to the children.
For example, 15-year-olds Anton and Eduard, who live in the village of Malinivka and both lost their fathers in the war, received a laptop. The devices also delighted the boys and girls of a family that has taken in three foster children in addition to their two biological children, as well as other families in the region. Five of the laptops also found their way to Gymnasium 59 O. Boichenka in Kyiv and now belong to children who fled within Ukraine and now live in the capital.
Concrete Help through Donated Laptops
In order to give the affected children access to educational resources such as digital learning content and thus improve their future prospects, BREDEX, together with the ChancenGeben e. V. association, donated 29 laptops to children in the Chuguyi region. In addition to its humanitarian work and the organization of aid transports to Ukraine, the Wolfenbüttel-based association is also strongly committed to the integration of migrants.
BREDEX is grateful to be able to support ChancenGeben e. V. with this donation. The association’s chairman and former mayor of Wolfenbüttel, Mr. Thomas Pink, Larysa Tkachukwurde (deputy chairwoman), and Tim Winselmann (head of IT operations at BREDEX) are already planning further technical donations for the association.
However, there is still a shortage of many everyday goods in Ukraine, such as clothing (especially underwear), hygiene products, and animal feed. You too can help those affected on the ground by dropping off your donations at Neuer Weg 68 in Wolfenbüttel or contacting kontakt@changengeben.org directly.
