On August 3, 2016, our team released version 8.3.0 of Jubula. The new version includes various new features to improve workflow, especially for teams who are new to the tool.
The very first step in Jubula is to create a new project. We have therefore greatly simplified the “New Project Wizard” to make it easier for first-time users to get started quickly. To ensure that the project is not created empty, Jubula 8.3.0 now offers the option of generating demo content in the new project. The sample categories and test cases help first-time users understand how to set up a suitable test structure and assist them in creating their own test structures. Another initial hurdle is starting an application. If it does not start initially, the user must adjust the configurations. To this end, we have enhanced the error messages to display additional helpful information.
Teams that use Jubula to test non-standard components have two new features in the new release:
New extensions can be easily declared in Jubula ITE as well as in the Client API by entering class names for the components to be supported. This allows these components to be “clicked” and basic actions to be performed on them. There is also a new Extension Wizard that provides teams with the necessary structure to write their own full-fledged extensions.
The new release also offers new options for code coverage, supports sliders in Java toolkits, and shape components in JavaFX. We have also improved performance and now support the reading of text components within the Client API.
